One of the detainees for the murder of nurse Jonatan Calderón in La Plata had committed a robbery at an ice cream shop days before the murder. The subject identified as Luis Matías Velozo, 27 years old, carried out an armed robbery at a branch of 'El Gustito' in the town of Los Hornos on Monday, February 3. The establishment's security cameras confirmed his participation in the robbery, being the same person accused of the nurse's murder.
Police sources revealed that Velozo had the habit of robbing neighbors to later take refuge in an abandoned house in Los Hornos. Additionally, it was reported that the criminal was arrested in connection with the murder of Jonatan Calderón along with another suspect with a criminal record, Matías Nahuel Curcio, 25 years old. Both individuals had previously been arrested for various offenses and were in custody at the Third Police Station of Los Hornos in 2023.
In a protest against insecurity in the city and seeking answers, several colleagues of Jonatan Calderón, who also work as paramedics, held a 'sirenazo' in front of the Municipality of La Plata on Monday morning. The demonstration took place after the tragic murder of the nurse during a robbery, which has shocked the local community.
